Built in 1983, Workshop 5A has been the home of DARCH for over 30 years. During so, it has undergone multiple renovations to what it is today.

Once again, needs have changed and a new chapter is to be started. Nearing the rejuvenation of W5A, a proper closure is due. This year as we advance towards its completion, let us appreciate the space and community we were placed in.

The design team was tasked with the layout and overall design of the year one set up. The theme for the exhibition was Farewell which marks the closure of the W5A workshop and the start of a new chapter for the students of DARCH. Guided by a group of seniors, the design team oversee the planning of the exhibition space, lighting considerations, logistical preparations as well as the set up.

 

The concept of the exhibition space revolves around the binary of arrival and departure - in order to comprehend the notion of farewell, one must first experience the sense of arrival.
