Understanding the Play of

Lines, Planes and Volumes

/  CONCEPT

The chaos paradox exemplifies the contradictory concept of chaos in containment. This cryptex serves to bring about the essence and the paradox of a controlled explosion, as perceived by the eyes. Following the shape of a pyramid, the triangular planes frame up the chaotic form of the interior, enveloping the cryptex to form the containment. A form of penetration encompasses the core of the cryptex where the lines, planes and volumes intersect one another.

The elements are shaped in triangles to provoke a sense of direction, to create the feeling of agitation and agility, at the same time guiding the eyes towards the act of penetration. The form of penetration crafts an idea of travelling through a portal into another dimension, into a space where gravity is absent. The lines are transparent to evoke the feeling of spaciousness and balance, as though the structure is floating. The volumes are translucent to emphasize the penetration of the impending solid planes.
